Fly direct to 40 destinations from Tallinn this winter

Tallinn Airport’s winter schedule, which runs through to the end of March, features direct flights to 40 destinations – including more frequent connections to London, Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Eero Pärgmäe, a member of the management board of Tallinn Airport, says skiing destinations are among those that have been added to the winter schedule. “One is the popular Finnish ski resort of Levi in Kittilä, to which direct flights are being offered for the first time,” he explained. “There are also flights to cities close to Central European resorts, including Milan, Salzburg, Munich, Geneva, Zurich and Treviso. Travellers hoping for warmer weather can choose between direct flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Malaga, Hurghada, Sri Lanka and Antalya. In fact, the Turkish resort will be served by two airlines this winter: SunExpress and Pegasus.”

A total of 338,800 people passed through Tallinn Airport in October, marking a 19% rise on the same period in 2023. Buoyed by a strong summer season, the airport’s 10-month total of 2,981,944 passengers surpassed the total for the entirety of 2023 of 2,960,447 passengers. “That result is a great way of rounding out the summer season,” Pärgmäe said. “Winter is always a quieter time for aviation in the northern hemisphere, with the focus mainly on business destinations and a smaller number of seasonal routes.”

Despite the fact that winter has yet to arrive, a number of airlines have already started selling flights for summer 2025. The number of passengers worldwide is expected to grow in the coming years. “The biggest challenge for airlines is how to serve more passengers with the same number of aircraft,” Pärgmäe said. “The delivery issues that aircraft manufacturers are having and the increased need for the maintenance of next-generation engines have led to a shortage of aircraft. Like as not, this means airlines are having to make choices about their routes, and that there will be more night flights to choose from for direct flights. In addition to flydubai, which has postponed the launch of its flights to the Baltic States, a number of other airlines are concerned about their lack of aircraft as well. There’s no sign of a quick solution being found any time soon.”
